Lloyd William Bahls, 66, of Guttenberg, IA died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals of complications following a bone marrow transplant. He was born the son of Lawrence and Kathleen (Egleseder) Bahls on Jan. 24, 1940 near Garnavillo. Lloyd graduated from Guttenberg High School, attended two years of business college and served his country in the United States Army. On Jan. 10, 1959, he was united in marriage with Karin Richly in Germany. Lloyd was a supervisor for John Deere Works in Dubuque and retired in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, working at The Landing, and taking long walks. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Guttenberg, and Eagles Aerie #4114. Survivors include his wife, Karin; one daughter, Monica (Mark) Krallman of Huntington, Ind.; two sons, Bill (Audra) Bahls of Ankeny and Dan (Ann) Bahls of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Jewett, Scott Bahls, Beau Krallman, Heidi (Andy) Smith, Brittanie Krallman, Kendra Bahls and Meredith Bahls; two great-granddaughters, Halle Jewett and Allie Smith; one sister, Debbie Erixon of Ankeny; and his beloved pets, Toby and Missy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Howard; one sister, Denise Hale, and his stepfather, Jim Kelleher. Services are private; no flowers are requested. All services will be private.
