Loren Mohning

Loren F. Mohning was born the son of Lester and Anna (Fischer) Mohning, September 26, 1928, on the family farm near Clayton. He died Monday, March 6, 2006, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Loren attended Hawkeye Country School, lived in Clayton Township and farmed with his family for many years. Loren lived for the planting and harvesting of crops and his dairy herd. He enjoyed spending time with his family and to share a laugh with his friends. On July 16, 1955, he was united in marriage with Barbara Burlingame at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Elkader. He is survived by his wife Barbara; three daughters, Vicki (Steve) McLane of Guttenberg, and Kristi (Stuart) Clefisch both of Guttenberg, and, Terri Mohning of Garnavillo, five sons, Tom Mohning, Mike (Lori) Mohning and Lyndon Mohning all of Garnavillo, Kurt Mohning of Chicago, Ill., and Quint Mohning of Conrad, Iowa; four grandchildren, Matthew McLane, Amy McLane, Luke Clefisch, and Nathan Clefisch; one sister, LaVerne (Oscar) Troester of Garnavillo; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Reynold) Hedeman and Marjorie Hamann both of Elkader, and Ruth (Jim) Sorensen of Hood River, Oregon and many nieces, nephews and friends.
