Loretta Lorraine (Ahern) Stroschein, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and wife, returned to our Heavenly Father on Monday, March 3, 2008 at home with her family by her side. She was born on November 2, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois, and lived in Decatur, Illinois until she graduated from high school. On June 5, 1954 she was united in marriage with Francis M. Stroschein at St. Jerome Church in Chicago, Illinois. To this union they were blessed with six children. She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Ahern and Stella L. (Serkowski) Ahern, and one brother, Lawrence P. Ahern. Loretta was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. She and her husband resided in Antioch, Illinois for over 30 years, and then traveled extensively throughout the United States before retiring in Prairie Du Chien. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Francis M. Stroschein; four daughters, Teresa M. Roach and her husband Edward of Bristol, Wisconsin, Pamela A. Stroschein of Marshalltown, Iowa, Kathleen M. Kelly of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Valerie A. Draud of Chatham, Virginia; two sons, CAPT Thomas M. Stroschein, U.S. Navy of Lake Jackson, Texas, and James A. Stroschein and his wife Dawn of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; one brother, Jesse J. Ahern of Tucson, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren, Brian Roach, Jennifer Roach, Christopher Roach, Jeffrey Roach, Patience Blink and her husband Shawn, Lindsay Thompson and her husband Jeff, Erin Anderson, Kristel Kelly, Katelyn Kelly, Courtney Draud, Corey Lin Draud, Chris Sorensen, and Jenna Sorensen; and five great-grandchildren, Beau Blink, Lane Bown, Landie Bown, Mason Thompson, and a baby girl to arrive in April.
