Lorna Troester

Lorna (Stoeffler) Troester, age 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1925, to John and Marie (Kruse) Stoeffler on the Stoeffler farm in rural Garnavillo. Lorna attended the St. Joseph Catholic School through the 10th grade and eventually graduated from the Garnavillo High School. On September 5, 1945, Lorna was united in marriage to LeVerne Troester at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo. This union blessed them with one son Orrin who passed away on April 27, 2009, due to an automobile accident. Lorna worked for the Guttenberg Press for 6 years. She was also employed by the Guttenberg High School as a secretary for 27 years. In addition, Lorna was also employed at Rightway Realty for 3 years. Together, Lorna and LeVerne farmed for 13 years. Lorna enjoyed being around people. She always had something to say. She will always be remembered for giving good advice to her family. She had a lot of perseverance, which everyone admired. Lorna enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a great organizer. She loved cutting pies at St. Marys Fall Festival. Lorna was always there for her family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand. Lorna was a resident at the Guttenberg Care Center since September 27, 2011. The family wants to thank the Guttenberg Care Center and the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital for the excellent care they gave to Lorna. Those left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, LeVerne; daughter in law Sharon Troester; three granddaughters, Shelli Peppmeier of Dubuque, Paula and Courtney Kress of Holy Cross and Natalie Troester of Independence.
