Louisa Florence Billmeyer

Louisa Florence Billmeyer, age 92, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on April 9, 1924, in Turkey River, IA, the daughter of Nelson and Elsie White. Florence received her education from the rural Hunter School. On March 20, 1946, she was united in marriage with Donald Billmeyer in Guttenberg. Over the years, Florence worked various jobs but always considered making a home and raising her children as her full time job. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport until it closed and then she joined St. Johns in Guttenberg. Florence enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. Florence leaves behind two children, Joyce (Frayne) Horstman of Garnavillo, Jack (Elizabeth) Billmeyer of Postville, six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1979; granddaughter, Joni Horstman; siblings, Les, Wayne, Everett, Ed and Lawrence White; Vivian Ingles, Helen Bayne, Genevieve Tackman, Iva Bolsinger, Howard & LeRoy Kinyon, Harley White, Naomi Odden, Lucy & Avis White.
