Lowell "Chic" Nieman

Lowell "Chic" Nieman, age 85, of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on December 11, 1928, in rural Guttenberg to Louis and Elsa (Blech) Nieman. Chic attended the Walke Country School before going to Guttenberg High School where he graduated with the class of 1946. On August 14, 1950, Chic married Connie Borrett at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with three daughters. Together they raised their children and farmed west of Guttenberg for many years. Chic loved fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. He was an active member of St. Johns Church and also served on the church council. He was a long time member of the Ceres Church Association and served as Church Cemetery Sexton for many years. Chic was also a member of the Osterdock Council and enjoyed the years of custom combining in the fall of the years. Those left to cherish Chics memory are his three daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Burr, Julie (Ron) Rosacker, Sheila (Tom) Johnson all of Guttenberg; six grandchildren, Lori (Chris) Schlotfeldt, Renee (Neil) Barkalow, Jamie (Corby) Kuehl, Jenny (Cole) Millard, Scott (Alyssa) Johnson, Todd (friend Kristina) Johnson; eight great grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Ellie, Carter, Kendal, Maci, Ethan, Emmett; one sister, Elaine Johnson of Minneapolis MN; brother in law, Carl (Mary) Borrett and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
