Lowell Thein

Lowell Edward Thein was born the son of Adam and Lucena (Zittergruen) Thein, December 17, 1920, on the family farm near Littleport. He died Sunday, August 5, 2007, at Guttenberg Care Center. Lowell graduated from the Littleport High School in 1938, farmed with his family from 1938-1973, and worked for the City of Guttenberg from 1974-1988. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in the evenings, church choir and in a quartet for funerals. He served as Director of Edgewood Creamery for nine years and on the Hope Lutheran Church Council in Littleport. On December 30, 1944 he was united in marriage with Norrine Waterman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Norrine; three sons, Terry Thein of Marion, Rocky Thein of Elkader, and Sam Thein of Guttenberg, one grandson, Michael (Amanda) Thein of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania; one great grandson, Henry Thein; one step-grandson, Scott Johnson; two step great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hunter; and one brother, Wallace (Shirley) Thein of California; He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delores Thein.
