Malinda Maiers

Malinda (Heiderscheit) Maiers, age 94, of Garnavillo, IA, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of Nicholas and Emma (Meyers) Heiderscheit on February 12, 1918, in Holy Cross Iowa. Malinda received her education from St. Marys School in Guttenberg. On October 3, 1945, Malinda was united in marriage to Leonard Maiers at St. Marys church in Guttenberg. Together they were blessed with three children. For many years Malinda worked side by side with her husband at the Kist Bottling Company in Garnavillo all the while making a home for her family. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Church in Garnavillo and was a lector and a member of St Joseph Choir. She also belonged to St. Joseph Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Malinda was prayer affiliate out of the La Crosse Wisconsin Chapter and served as Director of Religious Education for 20 years. Malinda enjoyed spending time reading, sewing, quilting and Malinda loved to cook. She was always prepared for a sit down meal for anyone who stopped by her home at anytime. Malinda will be forever loved and cherished by her three children, LeAnn (Ron) Bries of Dyersville IA, Lorna Moser of Bernalillo New Mexico and Larry Maiers of Cedar Rapids Iowa; two grandchildren, Dawn (Roger) Bockenstedt of Guttenberg; Bill (Darcy) Moser of Elkader IA; four great grandchildren, Megan and Kelsey Bockenstedt, William and Taylor Moser; one great great grandchild, Bennett; one sister Mary Jean Langel of Davenport, IA; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Cyril and Merlin Heiderscheit.Visitation: Thursday 3:00 - 6:00 P.M.
