Survivors include her son, Dave Fortman of Worthington, 3 daughters: Janice (Lenny) Racine of Spring Valley, IL, Joyce (Delwyn) Curtis and Judy (Gerald) Nachtman, both of Manchester, 10 grandchildren: Lenny, Kristin and Jason Racine, William, Rachel and Melissa Curtis, and Robert, Laura, Mindy and Sarah Nachtman, 2 sisters-in-law: Eileen Fortmann of Ryan and Norma Fortmann of Worthington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sylvester in 2004, 3 brothers: Cyril, Eugene and Arthur Elenz and 2 sisters: Marie Steffensmeier and Margaret Mescher. Marcella was born on May 10, 1925 in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Cecelia M. (Keuter) Elenz. She married Sylvester Fortman on July 9, 1953 in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Worthington area until their retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marcella was a member of St. Paul Parish and it's Altar & Rosary Society. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where St. Paul Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 4 p.m., a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. and the Worthington Fire Dept. will gather at 6 p.m.
