Marcella Roling

Survivors include 6 sons: Marvin (Gerri) and Robert (Alice) both of Holy Cross, IA, James (Susie) of Dubuque, IA, Eugene (Lou Ann), Dennis (Sue) and Gary (Nancy) all of Dyersville, IA; 1 daughter, Alice (Robert) Weber of Dyersville, IA; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Ellerbach of Holy Cross, IA; 1 sister, Emma Schultz, of Holy Cross, IA; 1 brother-in-law, Ray Brimeyer of Dubuque, IA, She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1992; three sisters: Loretta Henkels, Agatha Roling and Alvina Brimeyer; 1 brother, Francis "Fritz" Ellerbach, a great granddaughter, Courtney Roling and a great-great granddaughter, Alonna Steffen. Marcella was born on September 1, 1913 in Holy Cross, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Sophia (Oberbroeckling) Ellerbach. She married Leonard T. Roling on January 5, 1938 in Holy Cross, Iowa. They farmed in the Holy Cross area until 1961 when the moved to town. Marcella was a member of the Holy Cross Rosary Society. She was an avid card player, a New York Yankee fan and loved to work in her flower gardens.
