Marguerite Stella Palmer died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the age of 92 at the home of her daughter, Patricia Roberts. She was born on November 1, 1917 at Greeley, Iowa to Gustav and Anna Dorl. When she was a child, the family moved to Guttenberg where she later graduated from Guttenberg High School. She was married to Donald Hunt in 1936. They were the parents of two daughters. Marguerite worked at various jobs in Guttenberg and in family owned businesses. In 1958 she married Dr. Carson Palmer. A faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she served as church treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Rebeccas and the Guttenberg Hospital Auxiliary where she served a term as president. Marguerite was awarded the Governor's Volunteer Award for work with the senior meal site program. In later years, she was always on call to drive her friends and neighbors who needed transportation. Marguerite loved children and was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughters Jane Elsinger and Patricia Roberts ; seven grandchildren, Lisa (John) Finch, Laura (Francis) Nix, Dianna Elsinger (Steve Evers), Scott Elsinger and Jenny Elsinger, Eric (Lisa) Roberts, Troy (Ruth) Roberts and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, John, Wilson and Fred and a sister , Marian.Visitation: Tuesday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
