Marguerite Sylvia Berns

Marguerite Sylvia Berns, age 99, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. She was born in McGregor Iowa on August 31, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Demo) Schindhelm. Marguerite graduated from the McGregor High School and later received her teaching degree from Fayette. In September of 1939, Marguerite was united in marriage with James Franklin Berns in Garber. Together they tilled their land and raised four children. Marguerite had a passion for quilting and spending time with friends and family. Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Diane (Lee) Dickson, Richard Berns, Suzanne Wand & Patricia (Bill) Paulsen; grandchildren, Allan, Michele, Rachel, Lee, Renae, Vicki, Traci; great grandchildren, Eleanor, Daisy, Audrey, Sasha, Anastasia, Farl, Caleb, Cali, Jaxon, Cam, Jordin, Bryson, Lyrik, Ethan; great great grandchildren, Sophia & Brayden. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents Fred & Nelli, husband James, grandson Richard Dickson and brother Robert Schindhelm.
