Marie Putzier

Marie Louise (Bahls) Putzier, 97, of Guttenberg, formerly of Garnavillo, died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Behren) Bahls on March 3, 1913 in Reed Township, Clayton County IA. Marie received her education from the local county school and was a homemaker for many years. On June 2, 1933, Marie was united in marriage with Orville Putzier at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. To this union they were blessed with three children. Marie was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Church in Garnavillo and was involved with the Ladies Aid for several years. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Valdean (Janet) Putzier of Paola, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and one brother Alfred Bahls. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Myra Millage; son, Orville Putzier; one great grandchild, Stephanie Millage; one sister Laura Glawe; three brothers, Eldo, Alvin and Clarence Bahls.In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Guttenberg Care Center, 1315 Acre St Guttenberg IA 52052 or Ladies Aid at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, 104 S Adams St Garnavillo IA 52049.Visitation: Sunday 4:00 - 6:00 P.M.
