Marilyn Meyer

Private family services will be at a later date.Marilyn Margaret Meyer, age 96, of Garnavillo, IA, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of John H. and Carrie (Meyer) Meyer on the family farm four miles northwest of Garnavillo on December 10, 1918. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Shew was always a member of St. Pauls Church. Marilyn went to the Equity Country School, mile from her home. She graduated from the Garnavillo High School. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Grinnell College and her Masters in Arts from the University of Iowa. Marilyn taught for 30 years in four secondary schools, all in Iowa. Following this, she did some substitute teaching in several schools in her home county. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her brother; Louis Meyer; sister Lavern Roggman; brother in law Arnold Roggman and her sister in law, Margaret Louise Meyer.
