Obituary There will not be a public visitation. There will be a Funeral Service on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo, Iowa where everyone is welcome to attend. For all those who plan to attend the funeral at 11, everyone will be required to wear a mask. As you enter the church you will be able to sign a register book and a member of the staff will then seat you. There will be no public viewing or greeting of the family per current Covid guidelines. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Marion Elizabeth Moses, age 84, of Garnavillo, IA, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, at MercyOne Elkader Medical Center after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). She was born on December 25, 1936, the daughter of Leander (Tommy) and Anna (Berns) Stroschein. Marion received her education and graduated from the St. Josephs Catholic School in Garnavillo. On September 5, 1957, Marion was united in marriage with Darwin Moses at St. Josephs Church in Garnavillo. Together the couple owned and operated the Kist Bottling Company where Marion was known as the Pop Lady. Marion also worked as a line server at the casino in Marquette. Marion was compassionately religious in her faith. She was a long time member of the St. Joseph Rosary Society. She enjoyed her flowers, playing cards, old country music, dancing, canning tomatoes and freezing sweet corn (she could cut corn off the cob like a machine). Marion had a great deal of spunk. She was a snazzy dresser, had a heart of gold and a smile that would bring happiness to everyone she met. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a devoted mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Marion was received by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ leaving behind her 3 children, Rick (Brenda) Moses of Garnavillo, Ann Schmidt of Farmersburg & Bob Moses of McGregor; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy (Courtney) Moses of Center Point, Jill (Justin) Tangeman of Bellevue, NE, Molly Moses of Cedar Rapids, Ethan Moses of Cedar Rapids, Elliott Moses West Des Moines, Kyle Schmidt of Farmersburg & Chris (Kayla) Schmidt of Farmersburg; 7 great grandchildren and one due in July. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darwin in 2013; mother and father in law, Lawrence and Marie Moses; son in law, Terry Schmidt; two sisters, Elaine Troester & Karen Shaw. In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, memorials may be sent to either MercyOne Elkader Medical Center or St. Croix Hospice in Strawberry Point.
