Marvin J. Theisen, 69, of Holy Cross died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence after a sudden illness. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross where the Catholic Order of Foresters will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home prior to mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by Scherrman-Peterson American Legion Post 656 & Iowa Honors Detail. Officiating will be Msgr. Lyle Wilgenbusch with Rev. Michael Schueller concelebrating. Marvin was born on August 13, 1944, in Holy Cross, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Wolf) Theisen. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1965 - 1971. Marvin was an ambitious, hard working man with many talents. He had a tremendous memory for remembering the past. Together with his brother they farmed just outside of Holy Cross and they cut, sold and delivered firewood over a wide area. Marvin enjoyed visiting, playing cards and spending time with his entire family. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include 2 sisters: Helen Hildebrand and Agnes (Ed) Wille, both of Holy Cross, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, including a great great niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, a brother, Joseph in 2013, and a brother-in-law, Robert Hildebrand.
