Survivors include her 4 sons: Michael (Rosario) of Rancho Cordova, CA, John (Sarah) of Westchester, IL, David (Karen) of St. Charles, IL., and William (Marilyn) of Aurora, CO; 2 daughters: Mary Jo (Michael) Merriman of Ft. Collins, CO. and Patricia (Kenneth) Aurand of Geneva, IL; 1 step-daughters: Barbara (Jay) Mitchell of Phoenix, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers: Gearhart, Alphonse, Ernest, Alfred and Clarence "Doc" Soppe, 1 sister: Gertrude Boyle, a grandson, Thomas Cullen Macdonald and a step-daughter, Mary M. "Fenner" Boyle. Memorials are preferred and will be directed toward a hearing impaired wireless headset system for St. Paul Catholic Church or may be made to the charity of your choice. Mary was born on February 27, 1918 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Henry J. and Lena (Feltes) Soppe. She graduated from St. Paul School in Worthington and received her education as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA., graduating in 1938. She retired from Mercy Hospital in Dyersville, IA in 1978. She married Joseph A. Macdonald on September 16, 1940 in Dubuque and resided in Freeport, IL until Joe's death in 1974. Subsequently, she returned to Worthington where she married Frank J. Boyle. Frank died in 1987.
