NEW VIENNA, IOWA Mary Jane Boeckenstedt, 79, of New Vienna, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester to join her husband for his 81st birthday party in Heaven. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate. Mary Jane was born February 13, 1937 in Dubuque the daughter of Clarence H. and Florence (Schneider) Fangmann. She married Robert H. Boeckenstedt on August 20, 1960 in New Vienna. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mary Jane worked for over 40 years as a registered nurse beginning her career in Dubuque followed by 37 years at Mercy Hospital in Dyersville. She was awarded a certificate of achievement from the State of Iowa for her 40 plus years of nursing service. Mary Jane volunteered at the New Vienna Historical Society, the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop and St. Boniface Parish. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Survivors include 3 sons: Steven (Lori) of Dyersville, Kenneth (Sue Basten) of Edgewood and Timothy of Dyersville, grandchildren: Stephanie, Jennifer, Michael, Amber, Heather Boeckenstedt, siblings: Jean Ann (Leon) Gaul of Dubuque, in-laws: Shirley Moore of Monticello, Carl (Mary) Boeckenstedt of LaMotte, Jim (Betty) Boeckenstedt of Earlville and Pat (Kay) Boeckenstedt of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, parents-in-law, Joseph and Celestine Boeckenstedt, Sister and Brother-in-law, Ruth Boeckenstedt and Richard Moore. The family would like to thank the Dyersville and Dubuque Mercy medical staff, Good Neighbor Home and the Hospice of Comfort of Manchester.
