Mary K Parker

Obituary Mary K. Parker, 89, of Guttenberg, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Guttenberg Care Center. Mary Katherine (Kann) Parker was born the daughter of Herbert and Ida (Heck) Kann on January 5, 1933, in rural Clayton County, Iowa. Mary was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church. Mary graduated from St. Marys Catholic School in 1951. After graduation, Mary went to beauty school in Waterloo and became a beautician. Mary was united in marriage to Eldon "Buzz" Parker on July 24, 1956 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Guttenberg. To this union, four children were born. For many years, Mary owned a beauty shop and later was employed at the Guttenberg Care Center as a beautician until her retirement. Family meant the world to Mary. She looked forward to holidays, birthdays, and the weekly visits from the grandkids. Mary loved to cook and bake; she was especially talented at decorating cakes for special occasions. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildrens sporting events and extra curricular activities. Mary was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Craft Circle, and several card clubs. She loved to drink coffee with her friends, go out to breakfast with Buzz, and her nightly walks with her dear friend, Carla. Mary will be forever remembered by her competitive spirit, her quick wit, and her compassion for others. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her. Mary is survived by her children, Debra Mormann, Daniel Parker, Daryl (Cindy) Parker, and Diane (David) Meyer; seven grandchildren, Logan Mormann, Landon Mormann, Lexia (Nicholas) Burgin, Shelby Meyer, Elliott Meyer, Alli Parker and Ben Parker; and two great grandchildren, Avery and Rory Burgin.
