NEW VIENNA, IOWA Mary Ann Wessels, 66, of New Vienna, Iowa died Sunday, January 11, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, St. Mary's Unit Dyersville, after a long illness. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Dyersville Fire Department will attend as a body at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John O'Connor. Mary Ann was born on February 4, 1937 in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Frank & Eleanor (Fangmann) Thole. She married Frederick Jos. Wessels on June 26, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna. Mary Ann enjoyed many summer days fishing and boating on the Mississippi River and playing cards with friends and family. Surviving are 3 sons: Wayne (Vicky) Wessels of Manchester, IA, Allan (Phyllis) Wessels and Carl (Kathy) Wessels, both of Dyersville, IA; one daughter, Gail (Mike) Lehman of New Vienna, IA; 13 grandchildren; Mollie, Michelle, Megan, Kristen, Audrey, Tim, Brian, Nathan and Morgan Wessels and Jacob, Joseph, Jeremy and Jason Lehman. Three sisters: Alice (Richard) Olberding of Dyersville, Iowa, Rita (Floyd) Feldman of Hopkinton, Iowa and Viola (Erwin) Klostermann of Manchester, Iowa. Two brothers Linus Thole of Dyersville, Iowa and Alfred (Clarinda) Thole of Manchester, Iowa. Two sisters-in-law Bernice Thole of Dyersville, Iowa, and Lillian Wessels of Farley, Iowa, Three brothers-in-law: Earl (Ruth) Wessels and Louis (Kay) Wessels of New Vienna, Iowa, and Leon (Eileen) Wessels of Dyersville, Iowa She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Joseph on May 23, 2002. and 2 brothers Charles and Francis Thole, and one brother-in-law James Wessels. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the Oncology Staff at Medical Associates and Finley Hospital.
