DYERSVILLE, IOWA Mercedes C. Maiers, 92, of Dyersville, Iowa died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday October 17, 2014, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday October 18, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey Dole will officiate. Mercedes was born January 19, 1922 in Dyersville, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Goerdt) Grawe. She married Ambrose Maiers on October 24, 1945 in Dyersville, Iowa. He preceded her in death. Mercedes worked for St. Francis hot lunch for over 18 years. She also was a host maker and cleaned church for many years. Survivors include one sister, Imogene Bagge of Dyersville, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ambrose in 1992, siblings: Cletus Grawe, Gerald (Aurelia) Grawe, Madonna (Leroy) Wulfekuhle and brother-in-law, Jerome Bagge.
