WORTHINGTON, IOWA

Merlin A. White, 84 of Worthington, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville.

A graveside service will be be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Worthington, IA.

Merlin was born on June 1, 1938 on the family farm in Worthington, Iowa, the first son of Emil and Lucille (Burlage) White. He married Clara Goedken on June 2, 1962 in Monticello, Iowa and together the raised five children on the family farm. He was an avid gardner. When he wasn’t on his bike, you might have found him with a good book. He always loved working his magic on his many woodworking projects.

Survivors include his children: Chris (Glenn) Peters of Worthington, IA, Doug (Kathy) White of Lisbon, IA, Cindy (Jeff) Friederick of Petosi, WI, and Angie (Thomas) Martinez of North Aurora, IL; 9 grandchildren: Jaykob (Jamie), Jessica, and Joshua Peters, Matthew and David Hermsen White, Clare Botello, Elidia, Sophia and Lucia Martinez, and a great-granddaughter, Stella Harkey; siblings: Marge (Dan) Cash of Alburquerque, NM, Suzanne (Bob) Armstrong of Alburquerque, NM, Wayne (Susan) White of Decorah, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clara in 2013, and one son, Randy, in 1997.
