Michael James Ries

Michael James "Rieser" Ries was born the son of Jim and Kay (Walters) Ries on August 30, 1960 in Dubuque. He died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals from injuries sustained in a work accident. Mike graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1978 and worked as the meat manager at the Guttenberg Grocery Store for many years. On June 9, 1984 he was united in marriage with Jill Schroeder at St. Marys Catholic Church. Mike loved being outdoors; hunting, fishing and walking. He was also a coach for little league, a Cub Scout leader and member of the Guttenberg Fire Department. He will be sadly missed by his wife Jill; two sons, Andy and Mat Ries both of Guttenberg; mother Kay Ries of Guttenberg; three sisters, Theresa (David) Palas of Volga, Susan (Tom) Fassbinder of Guttenberg, Brenda (Bill) Hartmann of Wonder Lake, Ill.; two brothers, Steven Ries of Cedar Rapids, Patrick Ries of Farmers Branch, Texas; brother in law Butch (Cathy) Schroeder; mother and father in law Robert (Millie) Schroeder and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jim and one sister Cynthia.Visitation: 4:00-7:00 P.M.
