Milton William Beck

Milton William Beck age 56, was born the son of Lawrence and Mabel (Dempster) Beck on December 27, 1948. He died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at his home in Elkport, IA from an Agent Orange related cancer. Milton received his education locally and lived at Motor Mill until he entered the Army in 1968 where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam War. While there he earned several medals including the Army Commendation, GCM, and Silver Star. Milton was an avid outdoorsman, raising ginseng, gardening and fishing as well as spending time with family at home. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darlene Beck; three sons, Dean Beck of Dubuque, Lonnie Beck and Steven Beck who both live at home; three sisters, Laurie (Bernie) Christen of Decorah, Julie (Tim) Harbaugh of Elkader, Wendy (Scott) Schroeder of Elkport; three brothers, Harold "Hank" Beck of Garber, David (Susan) Beck of Arlington, Lennie (Cathy) Beck of Guttenberg; two step-sisters, Evelyn (Richard) Moore of North Liberty, Linda Phelps of Elkader; two step-brothers, Fred (Faye) Phelps of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, and Myron (Kristy) Phelps of Elkader, and one grandson Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law Sandra Beck. The family would especially like to thank Karen Berlin from the V. A. Hospital, and Rev. Tom Martin for his years of service.
