DYERSVILLE, IOWA Modesta A. “Dessie” Overmann, 94, of Dyersville died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa. Visitation will be held 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Apr. 25, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Petersburg. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Modesta was born May 14, 1921, in Petersburg, Iowa the daughter of Alphonse and Susan (Grawe) Kerkhoff. She married Edmund Overmann on January 16, 1946, in Petersburg, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Petersburg area until retirement in 1980. Survivors include one daughter, Carla (John) Geistkemper of Earlville, three sons: Gary (Carlyne) of Petersburg, Loras of Shellsburg, IA and Steven of Dyersville; 7 grandchildren: Karen (Greg) Billick, Michelle (John) Pasker, Anthony (Jessie), Daniel and Nicholas (Deb) Overmann, Matthew and Michael Overmann; 8 great grandchildren: Andrew and Caleb Billick, Joshua, Jacob and Noah Pasker, Treyton, Devon and Braydon Overmann; a brother, Eldon Kerkhoff of Guttenberg; 2 sisters-in-law, Lucille Overman and Gladys Overman both of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edmund in 2002, 2 grandchildren: Christine and Timothy Geistkemper, siblings: Rita (Arnold and Clarence) Gassmann, and Amanda (Edward) Schmidt; in-laws: Vincent (Julia), Aloysius, Alfred and Irvin Overmann, and Emma (Lawrence) Bonert.
