On May 25, 1945, Myrtle married her high school sweetheart John "Jack" Goheen at St. Patricks Cathedral in New York City after he returned from Sicily when the war ended. Washington D.C. and New York City were their favorite places to return to many times over the course of the next 30 years. They never invited their children !!! Myrtle and Jack began their life together in Des Moines where Jack was enrolled in the Iowa College of Banking. It was there that Patricia was born in September 1946.
