Nedra Ione Kinyon

Nedra Ione (Harris) Kinyon, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on August 3, 1931, in Bloomfield IA, the daughter of John and Kate (Farley) Harris. Nedra grew up in the southeast corner of Iowa receiving her education locally. On March 12, 1949, Nedra was united in marriage with Donald Kinyon in Fairfield Iowa. This union blessed them with three children. Along with her husband, Nedra made a home for her family while raising her children. She was a big time homemaker and terrific cook. Christmas time was a very special time of the year in the Kinyon home and youd swear you would put on weight just by the wonder smell coming from the kitchen. She drove school bus for the Muscatine School District for 21 years. She also cooked at a long term care facility in Muscatine. Nedra spent some time manufacturing detonating devices for Sylvania during the war effort. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ and along with Donald, helped out at bible camps in Mason City then later in Muscatine where she would prepare a Sunday feast for those who would attend. Nedra is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald of Guttenberg; 3 children, Pam Lake of Guttenberg, Steve (Laura) Kinyon of Muscatine, John (Marcia) Kinyon of Roseville, IL; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Lowell (Rose) Harris of Searcy Ark, Glen (Rosa) Harris of Burlington, IA and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, Robert, Blaine, Max, Leon, Morna and Ladene.In Lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, a memorial has been set up and they can be sent to P.O.
