Neil Meyers

Neil J. Meyers, 62, of Dyersville died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be held 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Saturday morning, September 26th from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday 26, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Neil was born July 25, 1953, the son of Robert and Lucille (Schuster) Meyers. He graduated from Beckman High School with the Class of 1971, and earned an associates degree in accounting from Area One in Dubuque. He married Cathy Huberty on Sept. 29, 1979, in Dyersville, Iowa. Neil worked in the Maintenance Department at the Ertl Company, became a licensed electrician and joined the IBEW, and finished his career in sales at Scherrman’s Appliance. Neil was an avid golfer who helped organize the Eastern Iowa Golf Association events over the years and was recently inducted into the EIGA Hall of Fame. He had two hole-in-ones in his career. Survivors include his wife, Cathy, 3 sons: Tom (Sarah) of West Des Moines, Brian (Erin) of Logan Township, NJ, Mitchell (Alexis Shull) of Des Moines; 2 grandchildren: Kayleigh and Emily; siblings: Nancy (Ron) Barone of Rapid City, South Dakota, Bob J. (Sue) Meyers of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Bill (Carol) Meyers of Waverly; in-laws: Chris (Ruthann) Huberty of Solon, Jill (Tim) Breitbach of Urbandale, Jeff (Mary Anne) Huberty of Dyersville, Tammy Huberty of Omaha, NE, Todd Huberty of Des Moines, Tim Huberty of North Liberty, Nick Huberty of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Thomas R. and Carol Huberty, a brother, Larry (Lonnie) Meyers. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Dubuque.
