Nelda Willie

Nelda Mae (Thein) Willie, age 88, of Garber, IA, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of the late Fred and the late Emma (Barton) Thein, May 11, 1921, on the family farm near Garber. Nelda graduated from the Elkport Public School; farmed with her family; worked at Muters Co Original Enders Co.; and cooked for the Anchor Inn and then for JR Willies over many years. On March 30, 1940, she was united in marriage with Wilbert Willie at St. Johns Church in Garber. Nelda was a member of St. Johns Womens Guild; North East Iowa Antique Womens Auxiliary; Elkport-Garber Community Club; Secretary for Mt. Harmony Cemetery; and served on the Garber Library Board. She enjoyed farming; driving tractor; gardening; and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include, one daughter, Janet (Hermie) Schroeder of Garber; two grandsons, Scott (friend, Ronda Ross) Schroeder of Elkport and Dan (Nancy) Schroeder of Guttenberg and; four great-grandchildren, Jami (Shawn) Kuhse Sr.; Heidi (Rodney) Glawe, Andy (Friend, Samantha Huntley) Schroeder, and Amber Schroeder; three great great-grandchildren, Marissa Glawe, Shawn Kuhse Jr., and Bradley Schroeder; two sisters, Berniece (Don) Wold of Saint Olaf and Bernita (James) Brady of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, August (Donna) Thein of Guttenberg and Frederick Thein of Rockton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Lester Thein and Melvin Thein; three nieces, two nieces in infancy and Renee Hopkins; one nephew Dennis Thein; two sister in laws, Berniece and Betty Thein.Casket Bearers: Scott Schroeder, Dan Schroeder, Andy Schroeder, Rodney Glawe, Shawn Kuhse, and Ronnie Willie.Visitation: 4-8 PM Tuesday February 02, 2010 at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home Guttenberg, Iowa and two hours before service at church.Funeral Service: 11 AM Wednesday February 03, 2010 at St. John's Church, GarberInterment: Mt.
