MONTICELLO, IOWA Norma Stevens, 81, of Monticello died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Keith Birch will officiate. Norma was born May 10, 1931, in Worthington, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Malvina (Bonert) Offermann. She graduated from St. Paul School in Worthington. On June 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Stevens. Together they farmed near Worthington for a short time and moved to a farm west of Monticello. They moved into Monticello in 1969. After moving to town, Norma worked at Felton's Café, Bud's Super Value, and eventually began at Polo Plastics as a seamstress for 26 years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed going for a drive with Bill, Friday night fish with "the girls", making cookies for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling to see her family. Survivors include her children: Bev (Michael) Bray, Julie (Bob) Stogdill, Dean (Lisa) Stevens, and Lori (Tim) Miles, all of Monticello, Gary (Mary) Stevens of Alamogordo, NM; 9 grandchildren: Jason and Brett Bray, Ryan (Morgan) Stogdill, Keri (Ben) Dahl, Stephanie (fiancé Joe) Sauerman, Danielle and Nicole Stevens and Kody (fiancé Jess) and Mandi Miles; 5 great-grandchildren: Landon, Preslee, Beckett, Mariah and Bailey; 2 sisters: Theresa (Al) Merkes of Dubuque and Lois Jasper of Peosta; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Doris M. Offermann of Earlville, Doris A. Offermann of New Vienna, Marie Stevens of Oelwien, Grace Stevens, and Mary and Leland "Fritz" Nebel, all of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 children, Dennis and Sharon, 2 great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Sophia Stogdill, 2 brothers, Leon and Ernie Offermann, 5 brothers-in law: James Jasper, John, Lawrence, Louis and "Fritz" Stevens. Memorials are preferred to the Monticello Senior Dining program.
