Norrine Marion Thein passed away in the presence of her three loving sons on November 3, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center at the age of 88. Norrine was born on August 27, 1926 to Fred and Nora (Perrott) Waterman in Guttenberg, Iowa. Norrine was baptized and confirmed while a member of St. Paul Church in Guttenberg. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1943 and then worked at Iowa Food Products in Guttenberg until she married. Soon after graduation she met her future husband Lowell Edward Thein and they were married on December 30, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport, Iowa. Norrine and Lowell spent the next 29 years on their farm near Littleport, Iowa and were members of Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport. During that time on the farm their 3 sons were born, Terry, Rocky and Sam. In 1973, Lowell and Norrine sold the farm and moved back to Guttenberg. Norrine and Lowell were then members of St. Johns Church in Guttenberg, where she was active in Ladies Aid. Norrine was also a long time member of officer in the TOPS organization and she made many friends in town. Norrine was an immaculate house keeper both in town and on the farm. As a farm wife she was right out in the thick of it milking cows, making hay, taking care of the chickens and raising her family. She was especially proud of her three hard working and honest sons: Terry in his business world career, Rocky in his soil conservation work and Sams many years at the local grocery store. Her hobbies included reading Danielle Steele books, doing crossword puzzles and collecting turtles made out of glass, wood and stone.
