Patrick D. Hess, 54, of Worthington, Iowa died Thursday, September 22, 2011, at his home after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Pat was born October 14, 1956, in Monticello, Iowa the son of Henry and Clara (Weber) Hess. He graduated from Beckman High School with the class of 1974, and married Dianne Bildstein on February 5, 1977, in Dyersville, Iowa. Pat was a farmer at heart who loved to work the land and watch it grow, and he also worked at Modernfold for the last 10 years. Some other hobbies included flower gardening, landscaping and winning a good game of cards. Survivors include his wife, Dianne, two children: Abby (Luke) Wilgenbusch of Urbandale, Iowa and Joshua Hess of Dyersville, his mother, Clara Hess Tobin of Worthington, siblings: Mike Hess of Worthington, LuAnn (Pat) Putz of Colesburg, Ken (Wendy) Hess of Prairie DuChien, WI, a step-sister, Jane Pettinger of Kansas City, KS, and a step brother, Dick (Nancy) Hess of Dubuque, his mother-in-law, Norma Bildstein of Cascade, brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Linda (Gene) Pape, Dan Bildstein, Marcia (Ron) Leuchs, Connie (Terry) Gogel, Mary Lou (Bill) McMahon, Barb Moyer, Chuck (Carol) Bildstein, Duane (Laura) Bildstein, Laurie (John) Meyer, and Cate (Kevin) McCabe. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry, his step-father, Richard Tobin, and his father-in-law, Cletus Bildstein.
