PETERSBURG, IOWA Paul G. Scherbring, 86, of Petersburg, Iowa died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Ennoble Manor, Dubuque, Iowa after a brief illness. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by VFW Post #7736 Military Honors at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John O'Connor. Paul was born on May 30th, 1923 in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Aloysius and Clara Kruse Scherbring. He married VernaMae Hingtgen on April 29, 1988 at St Patrick Catholic Church in, Colesburg, Iowa. . Survivors include his, wife, VernaMae 2 step son Rich Watson (Laura) of Dubuque, and Frank Marshall (Jeanie) of Zwingle, Iowa 3 step daughter Pam Schmitt of Dubuque, Patricia Scales of Highland WI., and Diane Colson of Linden WI. Numerous step grand and great-grand children. 1 brother: James Scherbring (Janice) of Colesburg, IA.and 1 sister: Myra Rausch of Dyersville IA. Many Nieces and Nephews. Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Urban and Fritz Scherbring, 1 sister Eunice Scherbring, sister in-law Florence Scherbring and brother in-law Joseph Rausch. Paul was a member of VFW Post #7736 and a past member of Lone Pines Country Club. He also belonged to UAW local #94. Paul loved to golf, fish and woodwork. He and VernaMae traveled to many communities to play cards Memorials are preferred to the Dyersville and Colesburg ambulance service.
