Paul was born February 16, 1923, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Fisher) Schramm. Paul and Mary Jeanne Voels were married in Dubuque, IA on June 12, 1948. Paul was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jeanne; 5 sons: Father Mark Schramm, SVD, of Chicago, IL, Paul (Suzanne) Schramm of Dyersville, IA, Roger (Deborah) Schramm of San Diego, CA, David (Debbie) Schramm of Edmund, OK, and Michael Schramm of San Diego, CA; 2 daughters: Mary (Pat) Guinane of Bloomington, IL and Patty McCauley and fiancé Ken Berzinski of Marion, IA; 7 grandchildren: Joe, Tim, Andy, Ryan, and Kalynn Schramm, Brittany McCauley, and Chase Stuart; a twin sister, Pauline (John) Herron of Davis, IL; 2 brothers: Alphonse (Nora) Schramm of Dubuque, IA, and Ed (Lorraine) Schramm of Freeport, IL; and a special niece, Mary Ann Keehner of Dubuque, IA. Paul was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Alfred and Louis Schramm. A Paul J. Schramm memorial fund has been established and may be directed to the family through the funeral home. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in South Pacific, having been in the China Sea as the war ended He attended St. Joseph's Grade School and graduated from Aquin High School, Class of 1941, in Freeport, IL. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Loras College in 1948. Paul was an educator, serving Blairstown from 1948 - 1951, Des Moines Dowling from 1951-1955, Xavier High School from 1955-1966 and finally at Western Dubuque School System from 1966 - 1986 as a teacher and coach. He earned his Masters Degree from the University of Iowa in 1971.
