Paul Thomas Schwendinger

Paul Thomas Schwendinger, age 72, of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1939 in Dubuque Iowa to Paul John and Eleanor (Becker) Schwendinger. Paul graduated high school from Loras Academy and after school he served in the United States Navy from September 17, 1958 until he was honorably discharged on September 13, 1960. After the Navy, Paul worked for Monona Wiring for a short while but spent most of his life in the timber logging for Livingston Lumber and later Nelsons Logging. Paul had a job that kept him right where he wanted to be; in nature. If Paul wasnt working in the timber he was certainly hunting in the timber. Otherwise you could catch him fishing or tinkering around with a little wood working project especially with his favorite species, Cherry. One fulfillment in his life was being out in Wyoming where one day Paul had the thrill of meeting his favorite actor John Wayne while he was making a movie. Those left to cherish Paul are his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Scott (Cisley), John (Deb), Joel (Betzy) Schwendinger; 2 grandkids, Stacey and Karl; two step daughters, Wanda Martelle and Jane Hatton; siblings, Kathleen Schwendinger; Jim (Carol Schwendinger, Josephine Fehring, Carol (Merlin) Timmerman, Pat Weber, Robert Schwendinger, Anthony (Kay) Schwendinger and Ron (Marcey) Schwendinger and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Gotto; two brothers, Tom and Joseph Schwendinger.Visitation: Tuesday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
