Pearl Agnes Schaefers

Pearl Agnes Schaefers, age 77, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on February 18, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Naber) Gaul. Pearl was united in marriage with Francis Schaefers on October 15, 1960 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville and this union blessed them with 7 children. Pearl farmed with her husband and made a home for her family for many years. Pearls greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and many friends, she was a very active member at St. Marys Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery work, gardening, praying the rosary, making puzzles, going for walks, helping with many funeral dinners with St. Annes Society, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Domino Ladies, and was a member of the Christian Experience Weekend (CEW). Pearl is survived by her 7 children, Michael Schaefers, Jerry (Lynda) Schaefers, Andy Schaefers, Marie (LeVirgil) Monroe, Elizabeth "Betty" (Tom) Callan, Christopher (Brenda) Schaefers & Alex (Teresa) Schaefers; 26 grandchildren; siblings, Sylvester Gaul, Gwen Healey, Mary Lou Meyers, Ruth Hilkin, Karl Gaul, Julie Bradley, Cy Gaul, Mark Gaul and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2005, grandson, Lee Smith; siblings, Rose Gansemer, Bernard and Leon Gaul.
