Phoebe Marie Rhoades

MONTICELLO, IOWA

Phoebe Marie Rhoades, 83, of Monticello passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

There will be no visitation or funeral service per her wishes.

She was born July 22, 1940, in Scott County, Iowa, to Henry and Hazel (Goodell) Ganzer. She graduated from Wheatland Community High School in 1958. Then moved to Davenport and she worked at St Luke’s Hospital as an aide. Later she became a cook and worked for many years at different restaurants in Illinois and Iowa, including Darrell’s in Monticello which was her last place before retiring. Phoebe enjoyed playing bingo and loved butterflies. She was a member of St Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Monticello.

Phoebe came from a family of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by 3 daughters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
