Richard Lauve Diers, age 66, of Okinawa Japan formerly of Clayton Center, IA, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill. He was born on October 4, 1946, in Elkader to Vernon and Helen (Knudson) Diers. Richard grew up on the family farm near Clayton Center and received his education locally. Shortly after school, Richard joined the United States Air Force and served for over 20 years until his retirement. After his military retirement, Richard worked in civil service with the Navy for 22 years. On August 15, 1990, Richard was united in marriage with Lorna Siago in Okinawa Japan where they made their home. Richard enjoyed traveling, ocean snorkeling, computer chats, playing games and watching football. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorna; one son Michael (Amy) Diers; two grandsons, Keenan and Kaleb; sister, Mary (Jay) Satinsky of Gurnee IL; sister in law, Elaine Diers of Elkader and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom Diers and two foster brothers, Leo Conway and Charles Adams.Visitation: Saturday 9:30 - 10:30 A.M.
