Obituary Richard "Dick" Edgar Duwe, Jr., age 78, of Garnavillo, IA, was called home by his heavenly father Friday, August 24, 2018, on the family farm near Clayton Center, IA of an apparent Heart Attack. Dick was born April 24, 1940 to Richard Sr. and Florence (Handke) Duwe on the family farm on Miners Creek Road in Guttenberg. He attended country school until 1952 then graduated from Guttenberg high school in 1958. On February 9, 1963 Richard was united in marriage to Rose Marie Heins at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, to this union four children were born, Michael, Diana, David, Daniel. Shortly after this union Dick was drafted in to the Army in May of 1963 where he served overseas as a Military Police Officer where he served guard duty at Miesau Germany for 18 months, Dick returned home April of 1965. He worked at the box factory after hours during high school and later Farley and Lecture, Hilton and Trademark Homes for 20 years, 3M in Prarie Du Chien for 17 years retiring in 2001. He then went into farming full time with his son Mike. Farming was what he liked best, you would find him along with the whole family cutting grass on weekends, he was known as a workaholic. Dick was an avid cubs fan, enjoyed a good game of cards, going out to eat, spending time with family and friends, he was also seen as a man that would help anyone in need, always there to lend a helping hand and would never say "No" to someone in need. Left to cherish Dicks memory is his wife Rose Marie of 55 years, Children Diana (Brennan) Cody of Eastman WI, David (Beth) Duwe of Garnavillo, Daniel (Crystal) Duwe of Guttenberg; five grandchildren, Brianna Cody, Brett Cody, Isaiah Duwe, Brandon Duwe & Abigayle Duwe; two sisters Judith (Lorraine) Taake of Elkader, and Bonnie Garlow; along with many Aunts Uncles nieces nephews relatives and friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Ronald Duwe; son Michael Duwe.
