She is survived by 3 sons: David J. Reding and Gregory J. (Tami) Reding all of St. Louis, MO and Philip J. (Bonnie) Reding of Belleville, Ill., 3 grandchildren Ethan G. Reding and Tristan M. Reding, both of St. Louis and Gabrielle M. Reding of Belleville, Ill., 3 brothers: Joseph (Leona) Menster of Cascade, Iowa, Fr. William Menster of Dubuque, Iowa and Donald (Georgette) Menster of Davenport, Iowa; 3 sisters: Elizabeth (Louis) Heims of Seattle, Wash., Mary (Tom) Ivey of Largo, Fla., and Barbara (Richard) Clarke of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on July 18, 2004, her parents and a still-born daughter, Patricia Marie; 4 brothers: Eddie in infancy, Earl, David and Francis Menster; 2 sisters, Helen Donovan and Sr. Mary Jean Evelyn (Rose Marie) Menster. Rita was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Cascade, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (Staver) Menster. She graduated from St. Martin's High School in Cascade and then from the Mercy School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids with an RN Degree in 1949. On Feb. 14, 1953 she married James J. Reding at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade. They made their residence in Monticello and she worked her entire nursing career at John McDonald Hospital and the Monticello Senior Home. Rita was family oriented having close relationships with her extended family, and serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother while her children were growing up. She was a very devout Catholic, attending daily Mass while she was able. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
