Robert “Bob” Edward Bischoff, 81, of Garnavillo, Iowa passed away, Thursday, March 16, 2023.


Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home in Garnavillo. Visitation will continue at St. Peter Lutheran Church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to funeral services.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, Iowa with burial in Garnavillo Community Cemetery. Pastor Harold McMillin will officiate.


Bob was born on December 9, 1941 at home southeast of Ceres, the son of Raymond and Helen (Lenth) Bischoff. He was the oldest of four boys with brothers, Paul and twins Gerald and Herold. He enjoyed working on the family farm and graduated from Garnavillo High School Class of 1961. He was drafted into the US Army in 1964 and was later Honorably Discharged. He married the love of his life, Karen Schlueter on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1970 at the Court House in Dubuque, Iowa.


They were blessed with three children Mark, Gene and Lisa. Bob drove semi until 1972 when he began his career as a milk hauler for Mississippi Valley Milk Producers which later became Swiss Valley Farms. He drove milk truck until he retired and the milk hauling business was purchased by his son, Gene which is still in operation today under Bischoff Transport, Inc. After Bob retired he enjoyed helping his son, Mark on his dairy farm Bisch-land Dairy, milking cows, doing field work and taking cows to the sale barn. He was blessed with two grandchildren Mahala and Caleb Lahr the children of his daughter, Lisa and her husband Matt Lahr. Bob was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Garnavillo serving on church council for many years. He was a volunteer for the Garnavillo Fire Department and a member of the Clay-Gar Legion.



Survivors include his sons: Mark Bischoff of Garnavillo, IA, Gene (Shannon Reth) Bischoff of Garnavillo, IA, and a daughter Lisa (Matthew) Lahr of Earlville, IA, grandchildren: Mahala and Caleb Lahr, siblings: Paul (Pat) Bischoff of Garnavillo, IA, Gerald (Debbie) Bischoff of Bloomington, MN and Harold (Marklene) Bischoff of Eaton, OH, in-laws: Angie Schlueter of Wauzeka, WI, Mary Lee Schlueter of Gillette, WY, Elaine Biermann of Guttenberg, IA, Dennis Schlueter of Guttenberg, IA, DiAna (Dale) Werger of Garnavillo, IA. And many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen, his parents, Raymond and Helen (Lenth) Bischoff, in-laws: Arthur and Berdina (Weidemann) Schlueter, Ronald and Harlan Schlueter, nephew, Matthew Schlueter and a niece Sherri Westemeier.


As Bob always said, “I am not a flower man”, the family requests no flower or gifts and that memorials be directed to the family.
