Robert Hyde

Robert F. "Bob" Hyde, age 71, of Guttenberg, IA, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at his home. He was born the son of Dale and Anita (Lundt) Hyde on September 10, 1942. Bob graduated with the class of 1961 from Garnavillo High School. On September 16, 1964, he married Joyce Berns in Washington D.C. He served in the U.S. Army, worked for Peoples Natural Gas, and was a mechanic all his life working at Kunzman Motors and later self-employed at Hyde Automotive. Bob also farmed, enjoyed radio controlled planes, cars, hunting, fishing and video poker, but most of all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Joyce; two sons, Richard of Guttenberg, Thomas (Melissa) of Colesburg; three grandchildren, Alex, Carlie and Kennedy; two sisters, Faye (Gordon) Strayer of Iowa City and Julia (Darrell) Ardoin of Sterling, VA; one brother, Merle (Flo) Hyde of Henderson, NV; sister in law, Jean (Terry) Green and mother-in-law, Jeanette Berns. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Keith; brother-in-law, Bill Berns; father-in-law, Wilfred Berns.In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and they may be sent to P.O.
