Robert James "Bob" Ernster was born the son Andrew and Irene (Walker) Ernster, October 12, 1930, in Dyersville. He died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Bob graduated from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse, Wis. and was united in marriage to Mary Ann Terpstra on June 28, 1952, at Holy Trinity Church in LaCrosse. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1951 to 1959 and traveled in sale for the US Tobacco Co. in S.W. Wis. In 1959, he moved to Guttenberg and began a long and distinguished sales career in the Mobile/Modular Housing Industry, beginning with Hilton Mobile Homes. He also worked for Clayton Craft and Trademark Homes of Guttenberg, Cavco Homes of Chandler AZ, and Design Homes of Prairie du Chien Wis., during this time, he served on the Iowa State Building Code Commission. After retiring, Bob enjoyed painting, leading scripture studies, lending his sales expertise to Linear Mfg, driving for Browns Ford, watching the Packers, Notre Dame and spending treasured time with family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Mary; two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Hansel of Guttenberg, and Susan (Bob) Lindahl of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; two sons, Mark (Gay) Ernster of Swea City, Iowa and Michael (Linda) Ernster of Sartell, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Vincent Donohue and one sister, Beverly.Visitation: Thursday 3:00-8:00 P.M.
