Rodney H Tangeman

Rodney H. Tangeman was born the son of Herbert and Agnes (Eckart) Tangeman July 10, 1932 in Guttenberg . He passed away Monday, October 1, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, after a brief illness. Rod graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1950 and then from the University of Northern Iowa in 1954. He spent 49 years in the banking industry starting out as a teller and worked his way up to being chairman of the board, which he held till his death. On September 14, 1956 he was united in marriage with Mary Jo Teague in Abilene Texas. Together they raised 3 sons. Rod spent 2 years playing professional baseball for the Kansas City Athletic organization before they moved to Oakland. Rod officiated high school football for several years. He was a member of the Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Award. Rod was a charter member of the Guttenberg Country Club and truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rods memory will be cherished by his wife, Mary Jo; three sons, Michael R. (Mary) Tangeman of Toddville, IA, William H. (Lori) Tangeman of Guttenberg and David J. (Mia) Tangeman of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Mixdorf, Michele, Kyle, Cody, Justin and Holly Tangeman; one sister, Renee Wiedman of New Lenox, Ill.; one brother, Robyn (Dorothy) Tangeman of Guttenberg. He was preceded in death by his parents. In Lieu of flowers, plants, benches and statuary etc. donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to a local organization.Visitation: Wednesday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
