Ronald Lawrence Vorwald

Ronald L. “Tiger” Vorwald, 72 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Ron was the son of Robert F. and Agnes B. (Heiring) Vorwald of Holy Cross.

Visitation will be held from 9 – 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Tyler Raymond will officiate.

Ron was born on July 17, 1951. He attended Leo High School and entered the US Navy. After his service, he settled in Holy Cross, and worked for many years for his father at Vorwald Construction.

When that company was sold, Ron went to work as an independent truck driver, owning his own rig. Ron was married briefly, and had two sons, Tyler and Gavin. In his spare time, he was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at the Holy Cross Fire Department, where he had many friends.

Survivors include his children: Gavin Vorwald of Cedar Rapids and Tyler Vorwald of Stanwood; siblings: Sandy (Steve) Ruley of Earlville, IA, Janet (David) Bird and Patti Behrens both of Edgerton, WI, Terrance (Darryl) of Jaskson, MS, Kevin (Mary Lou) of Sterling, CO, Brian (Debbie) of Rickardsville, IA and Alan (Sarah) of Dallas, TX; and a brother-in-law, Peter Kanofsky of Janesville, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Agnes (Heiring) Vorwald and a sister, Linda Kanofsky.
