Rose Dunkel

Survivors include her children: Judy Roling, Dyersville, Daniel (Elaine) Dunkel, Covington, Kenneth (Nancy) Dunkel, Dyersville, Mary Jane (Duane) Pruett, Apache Junction, AZ, Donald (Dee) Dunkel, Marion, Jerry (Vicki) Dunkel, Dyersville, Joseph (Linda) Dunkel, Worthington, and Edward (Michelle) Dunkel, Peosta, 19 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Clara Gable, her husband Bernard in 1991, one son, Michael, a grandchild, Amber Dunkel, brothers: Clarence (killed in WWII), Leo, John, and two in infancy, sisters: Annie Loecke and Lucille Graham. Rose Marie was born on September 20, 1926 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Angeline (Oberbroeckling) Gaul. She attended rural school and St. Paul's High School in Worthington. She married Bernard "Barney" Dunkel on January 12, 1949 at St. Paul's Church in Worthington, Iowa. Together they farmed until their retirement when they moved to Monticello. Rose enjoyed sewing and making many quilts, gardening, canning and playing cards. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
