Russell James Rust

Russell James Rust, age 84, of Elkader, IA, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Elkader Care Center. He was born May 30, 1933 in Arlington Iowa, the son of Reimer and Tina Rust. Russell received his education locally and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1955, Russell married Gerda Christensen and the two were blessed with five children, they later divorced. For over 30 years, Russell worked for John Deere in Waterloo till his retirement. Those left to cherish his memory is his five children, Lisa (Dave) Hickman, Sonny (Bev) Rust, Mark (Barb) Rust, Carla (Dan) Harris & Mike Rust; several grandchildren & great grandchildren; sister, Mary Longenecker and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Chad Hickman; siblings, Edna Rust in infancy, Hydena Wessels, Tilda Wildeborer, Irene Vetter, Carl, Herman, Paul & Lawrence Rust.
