Scott A. “Toby” Close, 49, of Dyersville, Iowa died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday August 3, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in St. Boniface Cemetery, New Vienna, Iowa. With military honors accorded by the American Legion Post #137. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Scott was born March 2, 1967 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of the late Donald Close and Sandy (Jones) Genthe. He was raised by John & Judy Vonderhaar in New Vienna. After graduation from Western Dubuque High School class of 1985 he enlisted in the Army National Reserve. Scott married Milisa Crouse on June 13, 1998 in Dyersville, Iowa. Scott worked for EIEC in Cascade for several years. Scott was a very caring man and would do anything for anyone that needed it. Scott was a huge follower of the Western Dubuque Bobcats wrestling team. Survivors include his wife, Milisa, 3 children: Jacob, Rebecca, Taylor, all at home, Parents, John & Judy Vonderhaar of New Vienna, Sandy Genthe of McGregor, Parents-in-law, Rick (Linda) Crouse of Gillette, WY, siblings: Raymond Close of Minnesota, Tammy (Shawn) Eilers of Stevens Point, WI, Danny (Amanda) Genthe of Strawberry Point, Bill (Shirley) Vonderhaar of New Vienna, Susan (Travis) Meadows of Valparaiso, IN, Mike (Shirley K.) Vonderhaar of Beloit, WI, Osman (Sondra Bennet) Alibasic in-laws:Richard (Lisa) Crouse of Calera, AL, Melinda (Wallace) Leastman of Gillette, WY and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & friends.
