Scott Kristian Nelson was born the son of Gordon Nelson Sr. and Dian (McFarland) Meskimen on April 8, 1965 in Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin He died Monday, January 7, 2008, from an automobile accident near Epworth, IA. Scott graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1983. After High School he received his pilots certificate, which led to him becoming a Tow Boat Captain for ARTCO. Scott spent 11 months a year on the water, which he truly enjoyed. He spent time on the Ohio, Tennessee and the Mississippi River. Scott traveled all over the county but he had his own little way of letting his family and friends know that he was coming into Guttenberg. When Scott wasnt working on the water, he was playing on the water. He was an avid boater and duck hunter. He was a member of Lock 10 Ducks Unlimited for over 20 years. Most recently he was granted the ultimate gift of love when a nice young girl named Heidi Zittergruen agreed to marry him. They had a wedding date set for May 16, 2009. Scotts memory will be cherished by his fianc Heidi Zittergruen; mother and step-father Dian (Guy) Meskimen both of Guttenberg; two sisters, Deb (Mark) Czarnecki of Beaver Dam, Wis., Becky (Jim Frye) Nelson of Lakeville, Minn.; one brother, Gordon Nelson, Jr. of Saint Paul, Minn; two step sisters Tami Kluth and Deena (Steve) Bernhard; nieces and nephews, Chad, Neal (Joy), Michael Clinton, Taylor and Sabrina Nelson, Abby Boer, Austin Kluth and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his Paternal and Maternal Grandparents.
