Sharon Bockenstedt

Sharon Rose (Funk) Bockenstedt, age 67, of Colesburg, IA, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. She was born the daughter of Henry and Zella (Odell) Funk on September 7, 1944 in Epworth Iowa. Sharon grew up in the Guttenberg area and graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1962. After high school she worked various jobs until she married Vernon Bockenstedt on January 30, 1971. Together they farmed near Colesburg for several years. Sharon enjoyed spending time at garage sales, playing slot machines in Osterdock, playing cards especially Euchre. She loved being around her friends in Osterdock and doing farm work. Sharon is survived by her husband of 41 years Vern; five siblings, Donnie (Lori) Funk, Charlie (Sharon) Funk both of Colesburg, Joyce Simons of Osterdock, Lois Simons of Colesburg and Diane (Sam) Wiskus of Garber; sister and brothers in law, Pearl Meier and Jan Oberbroeckling both of Dyersville, Valeria Bockenstedt of New Vienna, John (Dorothy) Bockenstedt of Cedar Rapids, Walter (Mary) Bockenstedt of Dubuque, Virgil (Sue) Bockenstedt of Yoda Minnesota, Arlene (Ambrose) Langel of Manchester and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, niece, Jackie Palmer, nephew, Daniel Bockenstedt; mother and father in law, John (Hilda) Bockenstedt; four brothers in law, Chyrold Simons, Irvin Bockenstedt, Henry Oberbroeckling and Victor Meier.In Lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to St. Judes Childrens Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.Visitation: Monday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
